Caney River,
Kansas


The Caney River is a tributary of the Verdigris River in northeastern Oklahoma and flows into it in Rogers County. The river exists in both Kansas and Oklahoma.

 

The Caney flows through Bartlesville, OK separating the downtown area from the east side. The river flooded in October 1986 due to above average rainfall. Bartlesville was split in half for several days and the flood caused considerable property damage.

The Caney has deep banks but usually runs low. The Caney divides downtown Bartlesville from the east side.The tributaries of the Caney River are Coon Creek, Turkey Creek, Sand Creek, Little Caney River, Eliza Creek, Rice Creek, Cedar Creek, and Buck Creek. The river flows through through Cedar Vale, KS Bartlesville, OK, and Copan, OK.
