Rex Walters

Rex Andrew Walters (born Mar. 12, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska) is a retired pro basketball player and current men's basketball coach at Florida Atlantic University. Walters played collegiately at Northwestern University before transferring to the University of Kansas, where he helped lead the Jayhawks to the Final Four in 1993.

 

The 6'4" shooting guard was selected out of the University of Kansas by the New Jersey Nets with the 16th pick in the 1993 NBA Draft. Walters played in the National Basketball Association from 1993 until 2000. He was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in his third season and also played with the Miami Heat.

In his first season as coach of Florida Atlantic the Owls finished at 16-14 overall and 10-8 in the Sun Belt Conference. It was the first time in Florida Atlantic history the basketball team had back-to-back winning seasons in thirteen years at the Division I level.
